Slpit Black Gram (Chana Dal)
500 g Split black gram (Chana Dal)
2-inch piece Ginger (chopped)
4 pieces Green Chili (Finely Chopped)
1/4 tsp Red Chili Powder (Cayenne Pepper Powder)
2 Tbsp. Coconut Oil
1 ½ – 2 liters Water
1 tsp. Turmeric Powder
1 tsp. Salt
Clean and wash split black gram (Chana Dal). Cook split black gram in a stewpan with water on medium-high heat, when lentils start boiling take the formed foam out of the stewpan the best as you can, then add salt and turmeric powder. When split black gram becomes soft, turn off heat.
While lentils are cooking, heat coconut oil in a fry pan, add chopped ginger and serrano peppers. Stir-fry for 2 minutes, add chili powder and mix well, then add it to the cooked black split gram (Chana Dal).
Serving suggestion: serve over a very thin layer of basmati rice, Spiced Okra with Onions and Matar Makhani.
